Head of Ajax WIP

This is the wax model for the Belvedere Torso sculpt, the same size as one the figure. There's still a lot of work to do on his hair but the beard's pretty much done. I tried to get the twisting S curves that Roman and Greek sculptors loved so much.

I pretty much made up his face, with the odd ref to see how wrinkles work and the basic shape of the cheekbones. I wanted it to look drawn, almost haggard, with the intense but distant look of a man about to take his own life. The head is tilted forward on the figure so his overhanging brow ridge and heavy eyebrows will cast his eyes into deep shadow.
