This is my dad in smooth grey clay, lifesize. Did this between christmas and new year. I'm hoping to carve in limestone this summer so I had to cast it in plaster. Only place to do that is in the garage. In sub-zero temperatures. Not fun. The mold cracked and warped so the two halves didn't fit together properly :( All the detail came out so I can work from it, it's just annoying after all the time spent on the clay.

He looks stern here, but there's warmth and humour in the eyes and mouth nevertheless.
